Presented by: Fifth Third Bank
Under the direction of Maestro Paul John Stanbery, the orchestra enjoys state-wide recognition. Students come from all over the tri-state area, and especially Butler County. Rehearsals are held weekly at the Fitton Center.
The GMYSO ensures that orchestral talent in young people does not go undiscovered or further educated. It provides an educational experience most Butler County schools are unable to provide as well as providing a quality orchestral experience under the direction of a professional conductor outside the school setting. Eighty high school students were called from over one hundred auditions to fill orchestra seats last year. Nearly one hundred percent of the group attended weekly rehearsals and quarterly performances. Average attendance at concerts in 2008-09 was 350 in a 600 seat house.
The GMYSO is an ongoing program going into its 18th year of operation. Auditions for the Youth Symphony will be taking place September 14 & 15 at 3 p.m. Call 513-863-8873 to secure a time.
