Art + Wine has a new day! All Art + Wine workshops for fall will be on Thursdays.

Create unique art while you enjoy wine and snacks! The Art + Wine monthly workshop series nurtures the creative spirits of many emerging adult artists in our community. We strive to create a comfortable environment at an affordable cost for beginning artists. Our instructors blend hands-on painting with art history and technique lessons for a wonderful social and educational experience. Bring a date or a group of friends and family for a fun and relaxed evening! Two glasses of wine and light snacks included in the cost of the class.

Getting Started with Raspberry Pi

Ages: 12-18
Instructor: Valda Hilley

The Raspberry Pi is a tiny computer, even smaller than a pack of cards, that can transform the way we perceive and approach computation. In this workshop we will learn the basic components of the Raspberry Pi and how they relate to a traditional computer. Students will have the opportunity to assemble the components and build a case for the Raspberry Pi. Discover that computers are general-purpose devices, and that not every computer takes a conventional form. Students will study how to identify the basic architecture of a computer: processor, storage, and input/output. Once the Raspberry Pi is set-up we will cover how to log-in, and load the graphical user interface. By the end of this experience, students will have completed a simple Raspberry Pi project.

Paint Chip Mosaics

Ages: 13- Adult

In this workshop you will learn the skills and techniques to create beautifully detailed mosaics using the sample cards you get from the paint department of your local hardware store! You will learn the basics of art and design as applied to making paint chip mosaics. Learn to prepare a substrate, scale an image and transfer a design to your substrate. Discover how to spray seal your mosaic and use grout-line techniques.

Viking Knit Bracelets

Ages: 13 – Adult
Instructor: Leah Tuscany

Viking knit is a centuries old wire weaving technique. This introductory class will teach students the basics of the Viking Knit process. Students will draw upon various demonstrations to learn how to make a completed bracelet. The process will be demonstrated, followed by hands-on work with instructor support. After completion of this workshop, students will have developed the basic skills necessary to create Viking Knit chain and assemble projects of their choice in the future.

Wearable Mosaics

Ages: 13- Adult
Instructor: Lori Kay Farr

Learn how to create a mini-mosaic masterpiece that can be turned into a pendent or key chain. This class will cover how to cut stained glass and tiles to shape into a unique one-of-a-kind mini-mosaic. While all supplies are included, students may bring their own tiny beads or tiles to incorporate into their designs. One mosaic base is included with the cost of the class; however, additional bezel bases may be purchased to create more than one pendant.
