Hello there! My name is Abby and I am the new Community Engagement and Media Intern for the Fitton Center!
I’m about to enter my fourth year of studying Journalism at Ohio University in Athens. I’m learning so much about the media field, marketing, and communications. I’ve worked on projects for advertising and I am very active on social media! Additionally, I work on campus as the hiring manager for a market and love my job for the experience it's given me with crafting emails and newsletters.
A few years ago, I attended the School of Arts in Hamilton and frequently visited Fitton for gallery shows and spent some time working on a philanthropy project for one of my classes. My group members and I filmed a video about the center, its staff, and community involvement and entered it in a contest and the prize went directly to the center! It was one of the most exciting experiences I’ve been a part of and since then the Fitton Center has held a special place in my heart.

Lately, I've been filling my days with a balance of hard work and spending time with loved ones. It's important to me more than ever to invest in the activities that make me happy, and one of those things is writing letters! Most afternoons I'm outside with a journal making some sketches or writing out something thoughts. There is a profound comfort in the way a letter from the heart can feel a lot like a piece of poetry or artwork. I'm also planning on making/painting my own cards to send to friends!
I'm really excited to work with the Fitton Center this summer. It's such a blessing to me that I am able to engage with a community that was so beneficial to me while I was studying art at SOA; as well as use this platform to share my curiosity of the art world and how creativity connects us all!
