“The third place” is a term coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg to describe places between home (“first”) and work (“second”), places essential for building relationships and sharing ideas. This coffee shop is such a third place for me. Even though the air was cool, the warmth of the sun on the worn floorboard complemented the camaraderie and discussion of photography ideas this morning.
I started photography using film, but love the digital world. Self-taught, I look to peers, magazines, and online resources to keep growing. I love details, things easy to overlook but whose color, light and textures speak to us and show us where we are, home or away. My work has been shown in the Fitton Center, the City of Montgomery Ohio's annual photography show (winner 2019) and Middletown Arts Center (winner 2018, 2019).
