The original artwork, The Madonna, was painted by Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato. He lived from 1609-1685. This is one of many of his religious paintings. I came to admire his ability to create the subtle color changes and overlapping shadows throughout the entire painting. Certainly a great master. I've not yet been able to learn the location of the original.

I began painting in the winter of 2018, with a Fitton class taught by Chrissy Collopy. Later, when asked how that class went, I remember saying that I will always be doing this!
I love the challenge, it’s lots of fun, but best of all, I made so many wonderful new friends!
Today I paint with oil, and I’m trying to improve this portraiture work, by attempting to copy some works of the old masters.
