24 Days of Art

(Cincinnati, OH) - Long-time Fitton Center partner SOS ART - the driving force behind the new artist in residence program - presents SOS ART 2024 from June 21 to July 14.

Curated by founder and president Saad Ghosn, SOS ART 2024 is bookended by opening and closing events - free and open to the public - at The Art Academy of Cincinnati (1212 Jackson Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202).

The opening celebration runs 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 21 and includes introductory notes, a tribute to late SOS ART fellow artist Gloria McConnaghy, a potluck reception and musical entertainment by The Lastboppers.

The closing event runs 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 14, with an artists’ walk-and-talk; artists’ get together and the closing potluck reception.

In between, the exhibition is on view 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday. It features creative expressions for peace and justice by more than 100 Greater Cincinnati artists, as well as mini-prints on peace and justice by 20 additional artists from around the United States.

The SOS ART event is a kaleidoscopic community view on the sociopolitical world where works by local artists make powerful and diverse statements in support of justice and peace locally, nationally and worldwide.

The mission of SOS ART, a Cincinnati-based non-profit organization, is:

*to encourage, promote and provide opportunities for the arts as dynamic vehicles for peace and justice

*encourage local artists to use their art as their voice on issues of peace and justice that concern them, their community, the world

*facilitate the creation of a community of artists who network and collaborate together using art to impact issues of peace and justice in the community where they live

*use the arts to speak about, inform, educate and create a dialogue on social issues and bring positive change

*use the arts to introduce basic values of peace and justice in the youth

SOS ART 2024 helps SOS ART achieve its mission of empowering the voices of local artists. Guests are invited to spend time looking at their art, listening to their messages, adding their own voices and perspectives to them, and participating in the fomenting of a strong local community that aims for a better world.
