Member Show - Call to Artists

Hamilton (OH) – The Fitton Center for Creative Arts seeks entries for its 30th Anniversary Fitton Member Show

The ninth edition of the biennial visual art exhibition features a growing network of diverse member artists as the Fitton Center celebrates the conclusion of its 30th year in operation. This multi-media group show invites Fitton Center members to display kids’ art, adult contemporary works and family heirlooms concurrently with their own creations, spotlighting inherited talents and the timeless power of visual expression side by side.

“This show is all about artistic relationships and community,” said Cathy Mayhugh, Director of Exhibitions. “It lets a grandmother and grandson or a teacher and student display their art side by side. It connects people and celebrates the supportive spaces where art originates, whether that be the kitchen table or a Fitton Center classroom.”

The all-media, non-juried exhibition includes art in two categories:

1.      Member Artists: Original artwork or fine craft created by an adult member entrant within the past five years.

2.      Family Art: Original, hand-crafted, historical or contemporary artwork and/or objects made by a child or adult family member of the member entrant.

Submissions are open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024. There is no cost to enter the exhibition, but all entrants must be current Fitton Center members.

To that end, the Fitton Center launches a month of discounted membership pricing. Normally $35 for individuals and $70 for members, March brings a 20% discount, putting prices at $28 and $56, respectively. Memberships are good for a calendar year from the date of purchase and are available online here, by phone at 513-863-8873, ext. 110 or in person at the Fitton Center office.

In addition to displaying art in the biennial, Fitton Center members receive discounts on classes, workshops, art purchases, performance tickets and facility rentals, as well as exclusive advance booking opportunities and perks with various business partners through the Community Rewards program.

“Each participating Fitton Center member can submit up to two artworks for the exhibition - a bit more than usual - so we anticipate a lot of entries,” Mayhugh said. “We’ll hang the art in large salon-style groupings, creating walls of color and visual conversations.

“I can’t wait to see how this design will reflect the concept of community rooted in the Member Show.”

Complete information and Member Show guidelines are available online here. Art delivery takes place April 13 and 15 with a gallery-opening celebration set for May 11 in conjunction with Drag Show 3: Through the Decades. The exhibition runs through July 12, 2024.

Please contact Mayhugh at cathy@fittoncenter.org or 513-863-8873 ext. 122 with any additional questions about the Member Show.
