So long summer camps...

(... but hello fall art opportunities.)

Hamilton, Ohio – We miss them already.

After six weeks and two dozen uniquely crafted summer camps, the hallways, studio spaces and theater at the Fitton Center seem strangely quiet as August begins.

This summer, campers packed the Fitton with fun and creativity,” said Kate Rowekamp, Director of Education and Outreach. “It’s always great to have kids and teens making art, making friends, and making messes at the Fitton.”

All told, a record 200 students spent part of their summer creating scores of projects under the tutelage of eight different professional art instructors.

To say nothing of the countless memories they made.

“It’s a thrill for us to see the thrill the kids get when they see their work hanging in a gallery or when the get to perform in front of an audience under the lights in the theater,” Rowekamp said. “That’s one of the best feelings for us, to see young people building an appreciation for how art is part of their everyday lives.”

While summer camp season may be over, art education continues. Evening classes and workshops for adults remain in full swing with yoga, metalsmithing, wheel throwing, anime drawing, mosaics and improv this week alone.

And coming soon, look for the 2022 Fall Education Brochure.

Sign up for a returning favorite like the holiday ornament workshop or an adult drawing basics class. Try something completely new like the cyanotype workshop running in conjunction with the 20222 FotoFocus Biennial Exhibition. Registration begins Monday, Aug. 15. Classes for the Fall I session kick off Sept. 12 and Fall II starts Nov. 1. Scholarship applications are due Sept. 2 for Fall I offerings and Oct. 21 for Fall II.

Fitton Center members get a $10 discount for workshops and $20 off for class offerings. Now through the end of August, the Fitton Center offers 20 percent off all memberships - $28 for an individual, $56 for a family – before regular pricing returns to $35 and $70 Sept. 1.
