Monster-Makers

It’s aliveee! Create your own cute and creepy creatures in this camp, whether you like ‘em soft and cuddly or big and scaly! In our monster-maker factory you’ll learn to make creature puppets, paintings, sculptures and more. Let’s make "fiends" at the Fitton this summer!

Welcome to Fitton Park: Dinosaur Adventure Camp

Ages: 5 - 9

Stomp on over to Fitton Park, a dinomite summer camp! In this camp we'll create dinosaur fossils, collaboratively build a "real" dinosaur and even give our creation a scientific name. Become a dinosaur yourself by making a costume with feet and a tail, and even practice your roar! Each camper will also create - and hatch – their very own dinosaur egg!

Mad Science Masterminds!

Join us in the Fitton Laboratory to create art from crazy concoctions, magnets, and mysterious mixtures! We'll experiment with oil and water, invisible paint, and invent new combinations of our art supplies. Our hypothesis is that you’ll have fun in this inventive camp!

Inky Ideas: Printmaking Camp

Ages: 7 - 12

Have you ever made a beautiful drawing or painting, but wished you could have more than just one copy? If so, then this is the camp for you! Join us to experience the exciting artform of printmaking using real printing presses! Campers will learn several printmaking techniques in this camp including relief printing (carving into a flat surface and printing the design multiple times) and monotype printing (creating unique, one-of-a-kind prints.) Campers will even have the opportunity to draw on and create collages from their prints.

Runway Ready: Fashion & Jewelry Design Camp

Designers, make it work! Create decorative and wearable art in this camp all about thread, yarn and fabric. We will learn the endless possibilities of fiber art from tie dye, weaving and batik to needle felting and sewing! Make colorful woven bracelets, beaded charms, and more!

Camp STEAM offers a chance to explore the world around us through the lenses of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Camp STEAM focuses on creative problem-solving as campers design experiments, construct hands-on projects, and utilize their imaginations. Join us and tinker with the endless possibilities of found objects and inventive materials. Campers will problem-solve to create feats of physics, invent new solutions to real-world problems, and use art to change ideas and the world around them. Campers will have the opportunity to create individual projects and collaborate with a group.

Artistic Authors: Storytelling & Bookmaking Arts

Ages 7 - 12

Creative storytellers in this camp will write stories, create illustrations, and craft their own books. Games and instruction about character, setting, and plot will help campers become stronger writers, both in their creative work and future schoolwork. Campers will make an accordion book, a sewn journal, and a comic book. Campers who attended last summer’s Noteworthy Novelists Camp are encouraged to register for this camp for new exercises and activities.

Mesmerizing Mosaics

Ages 7 - 12
Instructor: Lori Kay Farr

Immerse yourself in a world of beautiful colors! This camp will teach the basics of creating mosaics using a variety of unique materials. Campers will have the opportunity to both design their own individual mosaics and work with a group to create a large-scale mosaic. We will use a variety of tesserae from stone, glass, and ceramic, to recycled broken crayons! Learn basic design elements needed in creating mosaics such as how to cut and shape tiles and how to grout a finished artwork.

Make a Masterpiece

Ages 7 - 12

Draw inspiration from the unique artistic styles of famous creatives like Van Gogh, Seurat, Rodrigue, O'Keeffe, Picasso (and more!) to create your own artworks. In this camp we will explore drawing with crayons, colored pencils, markers and oil pastels. We’ll also create beautiful paintings using watercolor and tempera paints. Learn new creative techniques like salt painting and mixed media collage with fiber art additions to expand your artistic knowledge!

Tell Your Story: Creative Writing, Self-Expression, and Self-Publication Basics for Teens

Ages: 12 - 18
Instructor: Laura Leavitt

Teen storytellers will discuss how to become writers through games that help foster creativity. Practice with character, scene, and plot to strengthen writing skills, and also read some examples of great stories. We'll use the college-level technique of writer's workshop to help us get feedback on our writing. We'll put together our own magazine to share with friends and family.

New Editions: Teen Printmaking

Ages: 12 - 18

Have you ever created a cool drawing, illustration, or doodle, but wished you could have more than one copy to sell or share with friends? If so, then this is the camp for you! Join us to experience the retro artform of printmaking using real printing presses. In this camp you will learn a variety of printmaking techniques and discover how to edition (make multiple copies of) your designs to create custom holiday/birthday cards, posters, and collages. Even learn how to print on fabric to create unique t-shirts, tote bags, and more!
