Hamilton, OH – Hoist the main sail and batten down the hatches.

Great Shows For Kids returns to Hamilton, shipping Cap’n Kraken’s Yo Ho Ho Pirate Show to the Fitton Center for Creative Arts Friday, January 16, for Fitton Family Fridays.
“The show, on the biggest level, is to get kids reading and learning,” Cap’n Kraken said. “We teach them about mythology and geography and language and imagination.”
He does it in a fun and entertaining way, including magic, puppets, sound effects, music and opportunities for audience participation.
Among other things, audiences will learn about the legendary namesake sea monster from Norse mythology, the Lost City of Mermaids and a game plan to protect oneself against crocodiles.
“They’re a pirate’s number one enemy, after all,” Cap’n said. “Remember Captain Hook?”
The Yo Ho Ho Pirate Show is one of Great Shows for Kids newest stories - only about a year old - making its Fitton Center debut following about a dozen performances in other venues.
Recent Great Shows For Kids performances at the Fitton Center include last season’s Dino Show, as well as visits from Mr. Molecule’s Bing-Bang-Boom Science Show in 2024 and the Tricky Max Abra-KID-dazzle Show in 2023.
“It’s amazing how much the kids love pirates,” the Cap’n said. “Pirates are right up there with the dinosaurs. Kids don’t care if Cap’n Kraken is looking for the stinkiest, messiest, scallywag in the audience, they’re all raising their hands to be that.”
“There’s a lot of imagination involved. We’re talking about mythological sea creatures. And we leave a lot of questions unanswered. We want to encourage the kids to do some self-directed learning after the show. But they can just enjoy it on its own, too.”
Tickets for the Fitton Family Fridays are $9* for Fitton Cener members, $11 for non-members and are available online right here, by phone at 513-863-8873, ext. 110 or in person at the Fitton Center box office.*Plus a $3 service feel per ticketThe
Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
