Liberty Township, Ohio – One time wasn’t enough.

After the success of the inaugural Colors of Creativity Lakota Art Showcase in 2025, plans for an even bigger and more inclusive exhibition began almost immediately. As a result, student artists from every grade level and every building in the Lakota Local School District share their artwork on the walls at Liberty Center this spring.

They’ve created more than 500 original pieces – up from 300 in 2025 – highlighting the creativity, imagination and diverse perspectives of Lakota students. Their individual and collected works tell a story of ideas, experiences and dedication to craft, while illustrating the district’s commitment to arts education.

The kickoff event for the second-ever Colors of Creativity Lakota Art Showcase runs 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, In the Living Room of Liberty Center’s Foundry Building (7100 Foundry Row, Liberty Township, Ohio 45069).

The exhibition is free and open to the public during Liberty Center hours. Artwork will be on display on the first floor of the Foundry Building through April 16.

“Liberty Center is excited to showcase the amazing talent of the Lakota students again this year,” said John Taylor, Senior General Manager of Liberty Center. “We had so many great comments last year that we were happy to do it again, only bigger.

“Our ongoing partnerships with Lakota Local Schools and the Fitton Center for Creative Arts – and our commitment to Colors of Creativity - reflect our dedication to supporting the arts and providing a space where the community can come together to celebrate creativity.”

"We are thrilled to once again partner with the Fitton Center for Creative Arts and Liberty Center for Colors of Creativity,” said Lakota Superintendent Ashley Whitely. “This collaboration shines a spotlight on our talented students and gives the community the opportunity to experience their exceptional work.”

“Working with Lakota Schools and Liberty Center on the 2026 edition of Colors of Creativity gives us another opportunity to spotlight the work of these student artists in a dynamic environment,” said Fitton Center Executive Director Ian MacKenzie-Thurley. “This showcase helps demonstrate the power of the arts throughout Butler County.

“All of these student artists will have the experience of seeing their artwork professionally and publicly displayed. We hope that experience helps them foster a personal appreciation for the arts that follows them no matter where their professional lives lead.”

The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
