Hamilton, OH - The Fitton Center continued its Celebrating Self series October 1 with One City One Book Hamilton providing the inspiration.

Their selection - Lisa See's Lady Tan's Circle of Women - led to an appearance by Theresa Mhanna of Red Dragon Oriental Medicine to discuss some of the ancient healing arts described in the book.
In addition to talking, Mhanna had her daughter on stage during the presentation, having stuck stainless steel needles in her face and body to help demonstrate the healing power of acupuncture.
Mhanna also performed some cupping techniques on another patient before the program began.
Also before the program proper, the audience joined in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" for the unofficial Mayor of Lindenwald, Frank Downie, celebrating his 75th.

While there was only one symbolic candle on his cake instead of the full complement of 75, management felt it best not to subject his tablemates to the risk of blindness, heatstroke or smoke inhalation. (We kid because we love, Frank.)
The Celebrating Self series resumes Wednesday, November 5, when Bob Weber takes us to Jam!lton, sharing the stories of the music and musicians that rock our city.
Tickets are available online right here, by phone at 513-863-8873, ext. 110 or in person at the Fitton Center box office.
Meantime, enjoy some more photos from the October 1 luncheon in the gallery below.
