Farmer's market fun
West Chester, OH - The Fitton Center community engagement team set up shop at the West Chester Farmer's Market Saturday, September 19.
Guests produced a seasonally appropriate FREE craft, turning recycled egg cartons into colorful apples, complete with wiggly worms popping out from the inside.
(Get it? Produced? Farmer's market? Hi-yo! We're here all week! Try the locally sourced honey or the fresh-baked sourdough.)
Community engagement activities like these help the Fitton Center share the arts with audiences beyond its downtown Hamilton campus or the Fitton at the Foundry satellite teaching studio at Liberty Center.
"It's always fun to get out and meet people where they are," said Caroline Digiovenale, Assistant Director of Education and Outreach. "And it's good for people to see art as a regular part of their day-to-day lives.
"I always enjoy watching children learn how to make something from simple materials they may have around the house and then expressing themselves with their own choices. We saw a lot of pink or blue apples - and a lot of apples with many different colors - that you probably won't see in nature, but will see helping kids think creatively."
The engagement team has a busy fall season ahead, with appearances all over Butler County.
