Fitton Center Call to Artists

Hamilton, Ohio – The season-opening Keepsake exhibition at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts is still on the gallery walls, but Director of Exhibitions Cathy Mayhugh is already looking forward.

She issued a call to artists seeking proposals to be part of the 2025-2026 season; submission deadline is Sunday, November 10.

“Saying ‘2026’ out loud right now, it sounds like it’s a long way off,” Mayhugh said. “It’s really not. We give the artists a couple of months to consider their work and assemble their proposals. Then we need time to evaluate the submissions and create our season.

“This is a pretty standard timeline in the exhibition world. Working a year or more in advance is not unusual at all, especially when your call to artists is nationwide. We certainly love to feature local and regional artists, but we also typically get submissions from all over the country.”

The Fitton Center accepts proposals in all visual art media for solo and group exhibitions. Full exhibition requirements and proposal forms are available online at www.fittoncenter.org/call-to-artists.  Early submissions are welcome.

Interested artists must complete an online submission form that includes file uploads of 150-word artist statement, 150-word installation specs, CV, 10 artwork JPEGS with corresponding image list and pay a $30 non-refundable fee for consideration.

Selected artists receive a modest honorarium for their exhibitions.

“Solo artists generally exhibit 10 to 25 works, depending on scale, media and available space,” Mayhugh said. “We also offer group shows for partnering studios, as well individuals willing to be selected into a curated group show.”

The Fitton Center features four professional galleries with 2,600 square feet of space, plus an additional corridor gallery to expand wall space as needed.

Located on the banks of the Great Miami River in arts-driven downtown Hamilton, Ohio, the Fitton Center welcomes thousands of guests every month for art exhibitions, classes, performances, field trips, rentals and more. Casual gallery-opening celebrations for exhibitions routinely draw more than 250 people.
