Hamilton, Ohio – Sometimes it’s not about the booze.
Take resident mixologist Logan Adams’ most recent creation – Farmer’s Bounty – the signature cocktail for an influencer event hosted by 80 Acres Farms on the Fitton Center’s Riverview Terrace Friday, Sept. 16.
Adams selected a neutral spirit to sit in the background, while uber-fresh 80 Acres produce took center stage and carried the flavor load for the drink.
The classic pairing of sweet strawberries playing against sharp basil sets the tone. A splash of lime juice brings a touch of acidity to set off the sweetness, while a dash of rose water highlights the floral qualities of both the berries and the herb.
Traces of classic cocktails ranging from a paloma to a bellini, from a mojito to a cosmopolitan influenced the Farmer’s Bounty, but this drink stands alone as a vehicle for farm-fresh ingredients.
“When you get such beautiful berries and basil to work with, you really just want to get out of the way and let them shine,” Adams said. “Vodka is a great vehicle for that; it takes flavor very well. Not only that, it’s clear, so you can really see how beautiful the fruit is. It’s vibrant.”
