Hamilton, Ohio – England’s Queen Elizabeth wears a crown, but our area royalty rolls in heels.
That’s how Fitton Center resident mixologist Logan Adams landed on the Ruby Slipper, her signature cocktail for Drag Show 2.5, the final performance in the Jazz & Cabaret Series for the 2021-22 season.
As much a nod to LGTBQ+ icon Judy Garland’s Wizard of Oz footwear as to the sturdier soles supporting a drag queen, Adams selected a classic cosmopolitan as the basis for her beverage.
Bold, tart and bedazzled, The Ruby Slipper has actual edible glitter in the recipe to match the sparkly queens and pick up the rolling light off the mirror ball in the Carruthers Signature Ballroom.
Want to try one at home? Here’s the recipe:
The Ruby Slipper
2 oz vodka
½ oz triple sec
¾ oz cranberry juice
½ oz lime juice
cocktail glitter
Shake vodka, triple sec, cranberry and lime juices together over ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into champagne coup, drop in a dash of cocktail glitter and garnish with a lime slice. Enjoy.
Keep your eye on the Fitton Center Blog for more of Logan’s cocktail creations.
Next up… The Sharon. Any guesses what might be in that? Any suggestions you have for a favorite drink you’d like to see highlighted at a future show? Drop us a line at frontdesk@fittoncenter.org.
