This class will teach the fundamentals of mosaic arts. Learn how to create mosaics from a variety of media including ceramic, pottery, colored glass tiles, and sheets. Explore basic design principles, color theory, materials, and techniques. Discover how to cut and shape tesserae using a variety of tools. This is a great class for beginners and intermediate students who want to further their skills in creating mosaics. All supplies are included; however, students may provide their own substrates and/or glass tiles if desired. This class will have the option to create a glass-on-glass mosaic if students provide their own substrate. Please ask instructor if you have questions about this option.

Garden Mosaics Flowerpots
Age: 13 - Adult
Instructor: Lori Kay Farr
In this class, students will learn how to create mosaics with picassiette techniques. Learn how to cut recycled dishes and cups along with glass tiles to create your own tesserae. Design whimsical faces and patterns on a flowerpot using these materials. Explore gluing techniques for curved surfaces. This class will conclude with a tutorial on how to grout and prepare the flowerpot for outdoor use.
Students will provide their own substrates. A 10 - 12" terracotta flowerpot is recommended. Students may also bring their own dishes to use if desired.
