Mosaic Animal Portraits

Age: 13 - Adult

Instructor: Lori Kay Farr

Explore the methods used to create realistic mosaic pet portraits out of stained glass. This class will cover color theory and how to vary value to create depth. Learn to break down an image to map out your approach to the andemento. After registering for class students must email a high-quality image of the animal they would like to create to lkfdesigns@aol.com. This image is needed at least one week before the first day of class.

 

Note: This is an advanced mosaics class. New students should have completed at least one session of Mosaics: The Joy of Breaking Glass or have previous stained glass mosaics experience before registering for this class.

Mosaics: The Joy of Breaking Glass

Age: 13 - Adult

This class will teach the fundamentals of mosaic arts. Learn how to create mosaics from a variety of media including ceramic, pottery, colored glass tiles, and sheets.  Explore basic design principles, color theory, materials, and techniques.  Discover how to cut and shape tesserae using a variety of tools. This is a great class for beginners and intermediate students who want to further their skills in creating mosaics.  All supplies are included; however, students may provide their own substrates and/or glass tiles if desired. This class will have the option to create a glass-on-glass mosaic if students provide their own substrate. Please ask instructor if you have questions about this option.

Creative Aging Mosaics

Age: 50+

This class will teach the fundamentals of mosaic arts. Learn how to create mosaics from a variety of media including ceramic, pottery, colored glass tiles, and stained-glass sheets. Explore basic design principles, color theory, materials, and techniques. Discover how to cut and shape tesserae using a variety of tools. This is a great class for beginners and intermediate students who want to further their skills in creating mosaics. This class is suitable for any experience or wellness level. All supplies included in the cost of the class; however, students may provide their own substrates and glass tiles if desired. Students may also bring dishes, cups, and other broken China to create Picassiette mosaics.
