Mosaic Tapestry

Summer Session I Only: April 27 – June 1, 2021

Learn how to make handmade substrates for creating mosaic tapestries full of texture and patterns. Use a mix of tesserae and tinted adhesives. This class is suitable for all skill levels.

Summer Session I: April 28 – June 2, 2021

Create mosaics from a variety of media including ceramic, pottery, and colored glass tiles. Explore basic design principles and color theory. Learn to use specialized tools to cut and shape tesserae. Suitable for beginners or intermediate students who want to further their skills in creating mosaics.

Same class structure as described in Mosaics: The Joy of Breaking Glass adapted for all experience, fitness, and wellness levels.

 

Students in this class may also bring dishes, cups, and other broken China to create Picassiette mosaics if desired.

Mosaic Animal Portraits

Age: 13 - Adult

Summer Session II Only: July 13 – August 17, 2021

Explore the methods used to create realistic mosaic pet portraits out of stained glass. This class will cover color theory and how to vary value to create depth. Learn to break down an image to map out your approach to the andemento. After registering for class students must email a high-quality image of the animal they would like to create to lkfdesigns@aol.com. This image is needed at least one week before the first day of class.

 

Note: This is an advanced mosaics class. New students should have completed at least one session of Mosaics: The Joy of Breaking Glass or have previous stained glass mosaics experience before registering for this class.
