Moroccan Mosaic Bracelets

Age: 12+

Learn to create beautiful wearable art using colorful micro-sized Moroccan ceramic tiles. Leather banding serves as the bracelet base for your tile design (metal bases are also available for a non-leather option.) Many beautiful patterns can be created with these micro tiles. Custom-design your perfect accessory to match any outfit!

Wearable Mosaics

Age: 13+

Learn how to create a mini-mosaic pendant, bracelet, or keychain. This class will cover how to cut stained glass and tiles to shape into a one-of-a-kind wearable mosaic. While all supplies are included, students may bring their own tiny beads or tiles to incorporate into their designs. One mosaic base is included with the cost of the class; however, additional bezel bases may be purchased to create more than one pendant. New wooden bezels now available!

Polymer Clay Tiles for Mixed-Media

Age: 12+

Have you ever wanted to make your own tiles for use in mosaic, mixed-media, or jewelry projects? In this workshop, students will learn how to use polymer clay to create tiles that can be baked at home for use in a variety of creative mediums. Discover the different techniques and color blending options available for making an endless array of colorful tiles.

Pysanka:

Ukrainian Egg Dyeing

Age: 12+

Instructor: Lori Kay Farr

Pysanka, which means "to write," is a traditional Ukrainian folk-art form that uses a wax-resist method of dyeing eggs. In this workshop, you will learn about the symbolism of traditional pysanky eggs, and create your own patterns. Use styluses to melt beeswax and draw designs on hollow goose eggs. Dip the eggs into a wide range of dyes to create endless patterns. At the end of the project, watch the wax melt away to reveal your designs!

Create a unique and functional artwork while enjoying wine and snacks. In this beginning – intermediate level mosaic workshop, students will have the opportunity to create an original mosaic design on the bottom foot of a wine glass or on a wine bottle stopper. Our insightful instructor will demonstrate the techniques needed to complete the design and provide one-on-one guidance as students work. A variety of colorful glass tiles will be available to spark creativity. At the end of the workshop the instructor will demonstrate how to grout a dried mosaic project. Students will then have the option to leave their project to be grouted by the instructor, or receive a complementary finishing kit that includes a small bag of grout and instructions for how to complete the design at home once it has dried.

 

All supplies, two drinks, snacks, and choice of finishing kit or grout service are included in the cost of the workshop. Students will be asked to select their choice of projects (wine glass or bottle stopper) upon registering.

“Egg”cellent Paint Chip Mosaics

Age: 12+

Instructor: Lori Kay Farr

In this workshop you will learn techniques for creating a festive 3D mosaic using the sample cards you get from the paint department of your local hardware store. Discover how to prepare a 3D substrate, transfer a design onto its surface, and apply paper “tiles” to create a one-of-a-kind holiday decoration. Explore how to spray-seal your finished artwork and use grout-line techniques to mimic the appearance of traditional stained-glass mosaics. Each student will be provided with a 3D egg form and all materials needed to create their design.

Theme: Celebrate the season of renewal via classic Rookwood Pottery-inspired designs. Explore iconic representations of the "Tree of Life" and "Revival Birds" designed by Rookwood Pottery artists. Students will be asked to select their choice of inspirational designs upon registering.

 

 

Carve unique art while enjoying beer and snacks. The Prints + Pints themed workshop nurtures the creative spirits of emerging adult artists in our community. We strive to create a comfortable environment at an affordable price for beginning artists. Knowledgeable instructors blend individualized hands-on printmaking instruction with art history and technique lessons, while also creating a wonderful social and educational experience that encourages creativity. All supplies, two drinks, snacks, and pre-prepared relief blocks are included in the cost of the workshop.
