(Hamilton, OH) - The Fitton Center for Creative Arts billed its 2024-2025 Season Launch as a Community Block Party.
Boy, did the community ever step up. More than two dozen partner organizations pitched their tents and tables (plus a police cruiser and a library bookmobile) up and down Monument Avenue to greet guests Saturday, August 17. Among them were fellow arts organizations under the We Art Hamilton umbrella, including City of Sculpture, Pyramid Hill, Inspiration Studios, Street Spark, Greater Hamilton Civic Theater, ArtsSpace Lofts & Strauss Gallery, the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra and Miami Valley Ballet Theater.
The Lane Library - and its aforementioned bookmobile - made the first of several Fitton Center appearances this season. They'll be back September 13 for Fitton Family Fridays and the inaugural Kids Opening Night celebration before Lexington Children's Theatre performs Winnie the Pooh. Of course, the Hamilton Police Department brought the cruiser and set up on the southernmost end of the street. The Well House - the soon-to-be-open boutique hotel - occupied the northern end alongside catering partner Two Women in a Kitchen.
In between, were organizations including the Boys & Girls Club, Kruger & Hodges. the McClosky Museum, Pathway to Hope, Butler Tech, the YWCA and YMCA, Hamilton Rotary, the Presbyterian Church, 17 Strong, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Booker T. Washington Community Center and Primary Health Solutions.
