Call for Volunteers

With a new season on the horizon, the Fitton Center for Creative Arts wants to reunite its volunteers and add some new people to their ranks.

To that end, the Fitton Center invites anyone interested in learning about volunteer opportunities – as well as veteran volunteers – to a 2022-2023 season training session from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at the Fitton Center. Training will take place in the lobby gallery and include a facility tour.

“Our volunteers are so important to everything we do,” said Caroline Digiovenale, Education & Community Experience Coordinator. “We already have many wonderful volunteers, but we’re inviting more people in the community to get involved.

“You don’t have to be any certain age; you don’t need any previous experience. You just have to have an interest in the arts and we’ll find a place for you.

“We want to bring everyone back to the building, get them reacquainted with the facility and with one another. We’ll show them what’s new, tell them about the upcoming season and see how we can help them help us.”

The Fitton Center won’t waste any time putting volunteers in action, either. Digiovenale would like about 20 of them to assist during the 2022-2023 Season Launch – SUMMER PARTY – scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.

Positions needed that night include greeters and guides to welcome guests and point them in the right direction, gallery assistants who can help describe the Cut Fire Fuse exhibition celebrating its opening that night, and some general runners to handle things on an as-needed basis.

Please fill out a volunteer application and RSVP for the training session by writing Digiovenale at caroline@fittoncenter.org no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12.

“Our volunteers help make our guests feel welcome at our shows, taking tickets and serving as ushers,” Digiovenale said. “They help our staff prepare materials for classes and workshops. They help us with crafting for large groups when we’re off site for outreach programs. That’s just for starters.

“We’re grateful for all our volunteers and we’re excited to welcome them to our new season.”

The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
