Intern Intro: Get introduced to one of our new interns from Miami University Regionals Hamilton Camp

Hi everyone! My name is Katrina and I am a Junior at Miami University, majoring in Community Arts and Art Education and minoring in 2D Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting! I live in Lebanon, Ohio and commute to Miami Hamilton 4 days a week for classes and my internship at the Fitton Center. When I am not in Hamilton, I work at a local family owned cafe/coffee shop at the Lebanon YMCA!

Some of my interests include hiking in Caesar Creek State Park, reading poetry, listening to classical music, snuggling with my cat, and of course, painting!

I have been painting since I was 5 years old, and haven't stopped since!

Last spring I took my very first college art class, and fell in love with the family atmosphere the art department of Miami Hamilton offers!

There is so much community love and support there, it truly feels like another family! I have met some amazing professors and some of my best friends, including another one of Fitton's interns, Becca!

This semester I am taking my Community Arts Practicum class for my major that includes an internship, and I have been placed at the Fitton and I couldn't be happier! The Fitton is such a wonderful community center full of classes, events, galleries, and more! Last Spring, I was lucky enough to have one of my paintings be put on display at the Miami Student Exhibition held at the Fitton!

After I graduate, I want to be an elementary art school teacher here in Ohio! When I was in grade school, all of my art teachers had such a positive impact on me, and I'd love to pass that on to the younger generations to come!
