Hamilton, OH - Ohhh, the wordplay.
Fitton Center favorite Paul Strickland wrote The Hungry, Hungry Bookworm script for River City Puppets. Dylan Shelton created puppet characters that were simultaneously literal and whimsical (hello, Head Librarian) to bring the words to life.
“I’m just one person, but I’m never alone on stage with all these characters,” Shelton said. “It’s been phenomenal. The stories themselves are really fun and there’s a really wonderful payoff at the end. It’s been a lot of fun to perform.”
Together, they told the engaging, enchanting story for an appreciative Fitton Family Fridays audience October 4.
In addition to the Head Librarian, Shelton treated guests to a lounge singer, a paper boy who cried wolf, several actual wolves (and other animals) and many more, including a title character who grew to enormous proportions.
Before the show, guests enjoyed food and drinks in the ballroom, a selfie station in the Monument Gallery and a double giveaway from the Lane Library - a coloring book featuring seeds packages to plan come spring.
Be sure to join us again Friday, November 8, when Fitton Family Fridays return with Captain Nemo's Adventure Academy. You can get tickets online right here; fewer than 40 seats remain.
Meantime, enjoy some photos from The Hungry, Hungry Bookworm in the gallery below.
