Hamilton, Ohio – Time to loosen up the paintbrushes and rollers.

The StreetSpark mural program seeks painters to work on a pair of building-sized murals this summer.
“This is a great opportunity to work on large-scale public art projects,” said Jennifer Acus-Smith, program manager. “Painters gain experience working as part of a professional mural team and help bring vibrant artwork to the Hamilton community.”
Acus-Smith suggested applicants have mural experience, but it’s not a requirement.
“We’re looking for skilled painters,” she said. “If you’re a positive, collaborative team player with strong drawing and painting skills, we’d love to hear from you.”
Apply online right here; deadline is March 15, 2026.
Since its founding in 2016 – in partnership with the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Community Foundation – StreetSpark artists created 21 large-scale murals and painted 17 utility boxes in a variety of styles across the city.
The program creates engagement by producing high-quality art, providing opportunities for local artists and enhancing the visual appeal of the city.
StreetSpark plans a pair of murals for 2026. A call to artists in the fall yielded a two-phase design process, beginning with a Request for Qualifications followed by a Request for Proposals from selected semifinalists. A panel scores the semifinal proposals later this month. StreetSpark announces the winning mural designs in late March or early April.
The selected designer for each will paint their mural and be involved with supply ordering and project planning. StreetSpark manages wall preparation, equipment rental, supply purchasing and hiring supporting artists to assist the lead artist.
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
