Hamilton, Ohio – Sometimes the title says it all.

The FUN exhibition in the Community Gallery at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts hits the nail on the head for a number of reasons.
Yes, the exhibition – now on view – celebrates its official gallery opening from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 15, as part of Season Launch: Fun & Games.
Yes, the vibrant colors and volumes of creativity that went into almost 150 artists making nearly 200 pieces on view through August 25 help fuel the theme of the event.
But as much as anything, it’s simply fun to revel in home-grown art. Fitton Center artists made nearly every piece in the exhibition.
From students in classes at the Fitton Center to pieces formed in the Fitton at the Foundry satellite teaching studio at Liberty Center. From summer campers as young as age 5 to community outreach artists like those in classes for older adults at Booker T. Washington Community Center. From pieces made by dedicated students in their fourth different mosaics class with Lori Kay Farr to items crafted by one-off visitors to the Creation Station.
Director of Exhibitions Cathy Mayhugh said the breadth and depth of the art is captivating.
“This year’s vibrant show is a stunner,” she said. “It’s clear that there are limitless ways that people of all ages find amusement, pleasure and rest through artmaking.”
Running FUN concurrently with the Play Time exhibition in the professional galleries helps illustrate the foundational notion that art is for everybody. That providing access to art across a broad spectrum of students yields dynamic results.
“It’s so fun to work with the Fitton Center’s dedicated instructors, education staff and students to coordinate this show,” Mayhugh said. “It’s a joy to hear their stories about the support and personal growth they find in our classrooms.”
As always, the Community Gallery and the FUN exhibition are free and open to the public.
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
