Hello Potters!

We only have one more bag of BMIX without grog in stock. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of the BMIX without grog in our region. So, until we can get that back in stock, we will be switching to BMIX with grog.

For those who don't know what grog is, "grog refers to already-fired clay that is ground into a granular form and incorporated as temper into moist clay."

If you switch to the BMIX with grog, you might notice more texture and a less smooth consistency especially when throwing. However, there are some benefits to grog including less issues with shrinking and more strength.

I hope everyone had a good holiday season! It's great to see everyone back in the studio. Just as we are getting back to it; I wanted to make you all aware that I am going to be out of town 1/15-1/24.

Noah is going to cover Studio+ for the next two Friday's and Haruko will be firing kilns while I am out. If you need anything, you can always reach out to Kate, our Director of Education and Outreach. kate@fittoncenter.org

We will have Studio+ this Friday, but the hours are shifting due to the building closing early for the staff Holiday Party. The studio will be open from 11am-2:45pm.

Hello Fitton Potters!

The weather outside might be frightful tomorrow- so I wanted to hop on here and let you know our plan for Studio+!

We're constantly monitoring the weather, and if we need to close and cancel Studio+ hours, we'll make the decision by 10am tomorrow morning.

In the event we won’t be holding studio hours, you can find an update here and on our social media platforms.

Here's a recap:

What: Fitton Center Holiday Sale! Students, members, and instructors will present their artwork for sale at a booth (6ft table). Members, the public, and attendees of the Bryan Wallick recital hosted at Fitton that evening are invited to shop and mingle. Sales will be completed and processed by the Fitton Center at a central “check-out” booth.

Where: Fitton Center Dance Studio

When: Saturday, November 15^th 4-7:30pm

There still time to sign up for a booth/table. Even if you aren't ready to show your own work, this is a great chance to come out and support fellow Fitton potters and artists.

Hello Potters!

We are trying to gauge interest in your participation in a Holiday Art Sale!

What: A 6ft table for you-or you and a friend-to display and sell your artwork(pottery, painting, mosaic or other).

When: Saturday November 15th in conjunction with a show in the theatre @ 7:30pm

Where: Fitton Center 1st floor

Why: Even if you've never sold your pottery before, this is a great opportunity to move some pottery out of your inventory and into the community. Plus, is always nice to make a few extra bucks to support your pottery habit 😆

Hello Potters!

Studio+ is cancelled next week due to Season Launch. Please stop by the Fitton from 5-9pm. There is be lots of activities and demonstrations, food, drink and music for the Season Launch Event.

Also, there's a glaze load and a bisque being fired today. Anything that was in the kiln room as of yesterday evening is currently firing.

The Summer II session will start next week on Monday July 7th, and Studio+ will resume normal hours next week.

Hello Potters!

I hope everyone is staying cool in this hot weather. I just wanted to give an update that the small kiln is still out of order. I am waiting for parts to be shipped. So, please be patient with firing. I am trying to get caught up as quickly as possible!

Both kilns are currently firing. I fired a glaze load today and tried to prioritize pieces on a first come, first served basis. It's not a perfect system. So, please reach out if you have any deadlines for firing so I can do my best to get those pieces through.

The Summer Session II starts on July 7th!

We are finally getting caught up on firing. Just a note, we are having another kiln issue. So, if you are missing any bisque items, they are still in the kiln and will be out by next Friday.

Reminder: Studio+ is running from 1-4:30pm next week June 20th. After that, we will resume the 12-4:30pm hours.

Good news:

Studio+ will be open in the month of June. BUT we will have different hours on June 13th and 20th.

We are open 1-4:30pm on 6/13 and 6/20. We will resume normal hours of 12-4:30pm on 6/27.

Hello Potters!

Thank you for your patience, support, and well wishes. If you didn't already know, I broke my ankle back in April (playing kickball of all things!) which took me out of the studio for weeks.

I can't thank the instructors enough for all of their hard work to keep the studio running. Special thanks to Haruko for taking over kiln loading, supply inventory, cleaning and generally keeping the studio running. Thank you to Noah for unloading kilns and keeping Studio+ running. Thank you Rebecca for unloading as well.

There is a small delay in firing for a few pieces due to an issue with one of the kilns. Let me know if you have any pieces that have a deadline. I did load two glaze loads today. Those will be unloaded Friday. The small kiln is loaded, just waiting for a thermocouple replacement on Friday.

Hello Potters!

Unfortunately, I broke my ankle last week playing kickball. I am going to be out for a few weeks. ☹️ The amazing instructors are going to help out to make sure the studio keeps running smoothly. There will be a sub monitor for Studio+ on Friday’s.

Hello Potters!

This is a reminder that the building will be closed 4/18 in observation of Good Friday. Therefore, Studio+ will be cancelled.

Also, just a heads up that there has been a lot of firing in the last week or so. I unloaded 3 kilns today and loaded and fired two more. So, this coming Tuesday there will be a lot of pottery ready for pick up

We are gearing up for the first summer session to start 4/21!
